State of Maryland Network Equipment Supply & Support Contract Extended Through 2007

NetStar-1's State and Local Government Business Unit has received its Cisco Network Equipment contract extension for Fiscal Year 2006-07. The contract, originally awarded in 2003 by the Maryland's Department of Budget and Management, provides Cisco Systems-based products and services to state agencies, county and city governments, and qualified participants in the Washington Area Council of Governments.

This is the third contract extension granted to NetStar-1, with two more one-year extensions expected. In a statement issued by NetStar-1 CEO Bill Strang, he said "NetStar-1 has provided consistently high levels of service and support to agencies which have used this contract vehicle. We're particularly proud of our work at several county government departments where we have capitalized on our security skills to integrate extremely high levels of IT protection into critical applications."

Among the projects which NetStar-1's technical team has participated, are several Wide Area Network (WAN) communications tasks which utilize high-speed optical technology from Cisco, integrated into a statewide network which supports constituent requirements. Additionally, NetStar-1 has been involved with programs at the State's Departments of Juvenile Justice, Natural Resources, Transportation and others.

NetStar-1 supports the DBM contract with dedicated sales and support staff in our Rockville, MD headquarters. The team can be reached through Mr. Ryan Tendall at 240.425.4200, extension 4202.
